In the UF College of Nursing, I have aided Dr. Angela Starkweather and Dr. Lynch Kelly in the pursuit of various research inquiries and projects. I gained experience utilizing EPIC, RedCap, OnCore, and various Microsoft platforms while managing and analyzing data. While working at Davis Cancer Pavillion, I was immersed in the field of Oncology and had opportunities to collaborate with a broad range of health care providers. Under the supervision of Dr. Hitchcock, I was able to stand in on various examinations including tracheoscopies and laryngoscopies, while simultaneously working to consent and onboard new candidates to our study. I garnered experience working through obstacles in the workplace, such as bridging communication deficits and complex protocol adaptation when recruitment or follow-ups were struggling. Through Fall of 2023, I spent numerous hours managing various data platforms and served as a primary liaison for COACH participants, following up each week on survey progress and coaching triumphs. Through Spring of 2024, I created a synopsis and application for the University Scholars Application under Dr. Starkweather’s mentorship. I focused on a qualitative review of the efficacy of implemented digital health coaching in cancer care. My primary objective was to examine changes in symptom trajectories and the hopeful utilization of health coaching in management of the post-cancer experience. I will be further analyzing our studies into Comprehensive Outcomes for After Cancer Health in cancer survivors this upcoming school year in the Scholars program as well as in our Honors College.
