Welcome!
Hello! My name is Nicholas Moyer and I am a senior in the UF College of Nursing pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I am a Florida native and have been attending the University of Florida since the Fall of 2021. During my free time you can usually find me either soaking up the sun at the beach or taking care of my dozens of plants. I have a strong love for nature and science, as well as a passion for bridging the gap between knowledge and implementation in our world through innovative research. Please feel free to reach out to discuss any of my experiences here at the university, as well as collaborative desires or efforts.
Recent Studies
Clinical and Laboratory Experience
I have spent many hours in varying research and laboratory settings throughout my college education. With topics spreading through Oncology, Immunology, Cardiology, and Pathology I have immersed myself in a wealth of knowledge and absorbed an abundance of information along my academic journey.
Comprehensive Outcomes for After Cancer Health (COACH)
May 2023 to present
Examining the efficacy of an implemented digital health coaching in cancer care. Our primary objective has been to examine changes in symptom trajectories and the hopeful utilization of health coaching in management of the post-cancer experience.
UF Diabetes Institute
March 2024 to present
Under guidance of PhD student LeeAnn Hewitt I have been exposed to a variety of laboratory skills as well as clinical experiences. I have assisted with a few projects, including focuses on the immunogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes and disease prevention. Projects incorporate human and mouse clinical trials, specifically examining relationships between Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes and evaluating changes in cytokines. Additionally, we have projects examining changes in breast milk composition pre and post-surgical operation in pediatric congenital defect patients.
UF Davis Cancer Pavillion
March 2023 to present
I have garnered valuable experience in the Oncology clinic consenting and guiding patients along an IRB approved clinical study. Our COACH study finds its home at UF in Davis Cancer Pavillion, but I have assisted in efforts to recruit patients from across Florida to participate in our clinical trial examining the possible impacts of a digital health coaching program on the road of cancer survivorship. As a research assistant, I have been responsible for tracking participant progress and follow-up calendaring. I have also had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Oncologist Dr. Kate Hitchcock who has provided me opportunities to sit in on endoscopic procedures and immerse myself in the depth of the clinic processes.
