While working under Dr. Starkweather, I was also introduced to a range of other clinical trials and studies occurring throughout UF Health. Throughout the summer term of 2024 I have worked with PhD student Elham Samami in the College of Nursing on our IRB approved study, 'Investigating Integrative Therapies for Symptom Management in patients with Adult Stem Cell Transplant Recipients'. The study examines the feasibility and acceptability of non-pharmacological treatments for symptom management in adult patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation. Therapies include still meditation, meditative movement, relaxation techniques, and massage therapy. I have taken on various additional responsibilities while working with our team, creating our data management platform for data storage and analysis. With obstacles in funding limiting our use of RedCAP on this project, I have utilized our Microsoft platforms to create a variable encrypted code book to allow further independent statistical analysis of therapy results. I will be continuing to assist Elham and Dr. Starkweather throughout the 2024 to 2025 school year with the Integrative Therapies study in conjunction with our other studies.
